QDU performs the following tasks: Day data:
Downloads from Yahoo! pages and updates into the selected MetaStock data
folders.
Checks for missing data between today's and the last date recorded,
downloading and filling the possible gaps for each individual symbol in each folder.
Finally it checks if the minimum user-defined historical data is already
present in the folder. If not, it downloads and updates missing data. This process is
essential to build the initial databases.
Reconnects every 5 minutes to update, until the programm is closed or
paused.
Intraday data:
If intraday updates have been selected for any of the folders, every
time day data is updated, so it willl be intraday data, a new 5 minute interval being
added.
Unlike daily data, intraday data is not recoverable if the internet
connexion is lost or QDU is stopped. If this occurs, next bar will show the price and
volume difference from last time.
Each 5 minute interval is built from the snapshot data received from the
source, taking the previous closing as opening price, and the last price as
closing. This forces a no-gap chart that does not include information about high and low
prices within the interval.
